get
v 1. получать, доставать; 2. добираться, доезжать, достигать; 3. иметь, обладать; 4. становиться, делаться; 5. иметь что-либо сделанным (1). Значения многозначного глагола to get разграничиваются разными конструкциями: 1) доставать, получать — to get smth; 2) добираться — to get с наречиями места to get home (here, there) — добраться домой (сюда, туда) или с предложным сочетанием с предлогами места to, from, through:

to get to the centre — доехать до центра;

to get through the hole — пролезать через дыру;

to get from work — приезжать с работы;

3) иметь, обладать — to have got smth (только в форме Present Perfect); 4) становиться, превращаться, делаться — глагол-связка с последующим прилагательным или причастием IIto get dark (cold) — темнеть, холодать; 5) иметь что-либо сделанным — глагол связка с последующим существительным и причастием II или прилагательнымto get smth done:

I want my dress pressed — Мне надо погладить платье.

Where can I have my shoes repaired? — Где мне можно починить/отдать в починку ботинки?

(2). Глагол to get 1. обычно не употребляется в формах Passive. В этих случаях русское доставать передается глаголом to obtain:

Maps can be obtained at the Tourist Offce — Карты можно достать/получить в туристическом бюро.
